Description
Developing knowledge and skills to support positive change through communication
Rapid changes in the communication landscape – technologies, communication processes, and communication opportunities – offer new ways to understand and improve livelihoods, poverty reduction, and governance. Understanding how communication can support individual and social change can lead to more effective and dynamic development practice.
Practical applications of communication and development are diverse: they include extension and advisory services, communication and climate change risk reduction, communicating about health challenges, and communication to reduce food insecurity. As issues such as food security, challenging inequalities, supporting the role of agriculture, and addressing climate change challenges are of increasing important on the global development agenda, so too is the role of communication in facilitating, driving, and enabling change.
This master's programme:
- Builds a critical understanding of innovation and communication theory in the diverse contexts of international and local development.
- Strengthens professional competence in the design, planning and management of information and knowledge interventions.
- Provides a focus on practical application of new knowledge and skills to support innovation and change.
