Our research shapes our degree courses, making them relevant to today's employers and prepares graduates to take advantage of tomorrow's developments. In the most recent UK Teaching and Quality Assessment exercise, our teaching was awarded the highest rating.

We believe professional accreditation is important. BCS, The Charted Institute for IT, regularly reviews and accredits our undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

Every year more than 300 new UK and international students choose to begin their studies with us.

Employment prospects

Employment prospects for our graduates in the computing and ICT industry are excellent, with statistics consistently showing that the vast majority are following their chosen career paths within six months of graduating. Our graduates are also equipped with the transferable skills that open doors to careers in all sectors of economy.

Inspiring research

Through research and strategic collaborations, we seek to apply our discipline and solve challenging computational problems. Much of our research is multidisciplinary and impacts areas as diverse as healthcare, mobile and social computing, and the environment. We collaborate with a wide range of academic schools in Cardiff and other universities throughout the UK and internationally. We also work with industrial partners worldwide including IBM, Airbus and Ford.

Our research ambitions are supported by dedicated spaces with excellent computing facilities, including clusters and cloud environments, a dedicated GPU processing farm and a face and motion tracking laboratory. Researchers can also take advantage of the resources of the University's multi-million pound Advanced Research Computing facility (ARCCA).
