A history of our School
The school came into being in 2011, combining the well-established and prestigious schools of Politics & International Relations and Economics. They both remain as distinct departments within the School whilst actively promoting synergies across the social sciences in order to advance both research and the teaching and learning experiences of our students at all levels.
Our successful undergraduate degrees in Politics and Economics have been well-established for many years, and the inauguration of SPEIR allows multidisciplinary synergies and offers further opportunities on the postgraduate front to maximise the teaching and research strengths of the two departments.
Our school-wide MA programme in Public Policy, which came into effect in October 2012, is multi-disciplinary in its scope and remit and aims to help graduates develop a deep understanding of the making and impact of public policy across a whole range of institutions at local, national, regional and global levels.
