School of the Built Environment is internationally renowned for its research and education relating to the design, construction and operation of the buildings and places within which we live, work and play.
Our areas of expertise include architecture, construction management, energy systems and environmental engineering. We have a strong orientation towards interdisciplinary 'real-world' problems, and have a proud track record of active engagement with the professions.
We are ranked 3rd in the UK for the impact of our research in architecture, built environment and planning. 83% of our research is rated world leading (4*) or internationally excellent (3*). We are also ranked 5th in the UK for Architecture/Built Environment in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017.
