A multidisciplinary course focusing on the reception of ancient literature, art and culture in the modern world.

The longest-established reception postgraduate course in the UK, and taught by world-leading experts, our MA Classical Tradition is suitable for graduates from any arts or humanities discipline. Our Department is ranked 6th in the UK for research overall, 3rd in the UK for research output (Times Higher Education Institutions Ranked by Subject, 2014, based on its analysis of REF 2014 - Classics), and 100% of our research impact has been recognised as world leading or internationally excellent (Research Excellence Framework, 2014 - Classics).

You will benefit from facilities including the Ure Museum of Greek Archaeology, the University Library and a dedicated postgraduate room in the heart of the Classics Department. We are also located only a short distance from Oxford and London where you can visit major collections important for research in Classics and Ancient History.
