EMPLOYABILITY: 100% of Swansea University Social Work students are employed in professional and managerial jobs within six months of graduating (Unistats 2016)
AVERAGE EARNINGS: Starting salaries for a newly qualified social worker range between £28,000 to £29,000. For a senior practitioner, this goes up to between £33,000 and £40,000. Senior positions include team manager which pays from £34,000 to £45,000.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Minimum BCC at A2 level. a minimum of 104 (new tarfiff) UCAS points. GCSE Grade A*- C, in maths and English/ Welsh or the equivalent Key Skills 2 qualifications. At least 210 hours direct social care work or voluntary experience.
PROFESSIONAL ACCREDITATION: Graduates of this course can register as qualified social workers with Social Care Wales. This qualification is also recognised by the social work regulatory bodies in Care Councils in other UK nations.
